Delta Dental Coverage Availability & Fees

If you haven’t looked at your insurance policy lately, you should do so, especially if you’re unfamiliar with your dental insurance works. While your plan may be different than your neighbor's or colleague’s, the typical coverage through Delta Dental looks something like this:

  • 100% preventive care (cleanings and exams every six months)
  • 70-80% minor preventive services (fillings, dental sealants)
  • 50-70% of major services (dental crowns, bridges, and implants)

While most insurance companies encourage patients to receive preventive care, hence why they completely cover checkups and cleanings, they also agree to pay a certain percentage of minor and major services should problems arise. It’s always best to be proactive about your oral health, but if a dental crisis occurs, your insurance can greatly benefit you.

By paying a monthly premium, you can access your dental plan; however, it isn’t until you’ve met your deductible that your insurance company will begin to pay more for your dental filling, crown, or even tooth extraction. So, once you meet your deductible, it’s best to go ahead with any treatment or procedure your dentist recommends before the end of the year.

As an in-network provider, The Dental People has negotiated services and costs with the insurance company, so you’ll notice that fees are much less than those who are out of network. But don’t worry, if we are considered out of network for you, we will still work to make sure you save the most money, and we’ll be happy to file any necessary paperwork or claims on your behalf.
